Pin ItSo, whether you’re feeding a hungry family on a weeknight or looking for a quick meal after a long day at work, this garlic Parmesan chicken bake is one of the most satisfying meals you’ve ever had.

Ingredients and Substitutes
Chicken breasts (2) – If you don’t have chicken breasts, chicken thighs are also a good replacement. If you want a plant-based option, you can use firm tofu or tempeh.
Paprika, divided (1 tbsp) – You can use smoked paprika for a deeper, smoky flavor, or replace it with chili powder for a mild heat. And, if you like smokiness and heat, you can use chipotle powder.
Onion powder (2 tsp) – Swap with finely minced fresh onions or shallots for a milder taste.
Garlic powder (1 tsp) – If you don’t have garlic powder, you can use more fresh garlic, and if you are feeling like experimenting, you can use roasted garlic for a richer taste.
Black pepper (1/2 tsp)
Sea salt (½ tsp)
Lemon, juiced (1/2) – Lime juice or apple cider vinegar can be great substitutions.
Parmesan Topping
Italian seasoning (1 tsp) – If you don’t have Italian seasoning, create your own mix by blending dried oregano, basil, thyme, and rosemary.
Parmesan, grated (1/2 cup) – Replace with Romano or Asiago cheese.
Garlic, minced (4 cloves) – Use garlic paste or use more garlic powder.
Olive oil (2 tbsp) – Swap with avocado oil or another vegetable oil.
Unsalted butter, melted (2 tbsp) – I recommend using ghee for a richer taste. And, if you want a dairy-free option, use vegan butter or coconut oil.
Fresh parsley, chopped (1 tbsp) – Fresh cilantro, dill, or even scallions can be good replacements.

Pin ItHow I Would Modify This Recipe
- Keto-Friendly Option: Add a sliced mozzarella cheese on top if you want to add more protein and fat to the meal.
- Dairy–Free Version: Replace the butter with extra olive oil and use nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan cheese.
- Boost the Flavor: You can add other ingredients like sun-dried tomatoes, red pepper flakes, fresh rosemary, or a splash of white wine.
- Add More Veggies: You can try adding more veggies, such as asparagus, mushrooms, or zucchini.
What I Would Serve with This Garlic Parmesan Chicken Bake
- Roasted vegetables
- Garlic mashed potatoes
- Cauliflower rice
- Roasted baby potatoes with rosemary
- Creamy polenta
- Arugula salad with a lemon vinaigrette
- Avocado sala
- Garlic bread or focaccia

My Tips & Tricks
- How to Handle the Chicken: Cut the chicken breasts evenly so they cook at the same rate. And, make sure you pat the chicken dry before seasoning so it sticks better to the chicken.
- Maximize the Flavor: Season the chicken at least 15 minutes before baking to allow the flavors to marinate into the chicken.
My Storage Tips
Place any leftovers in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge for up to 4-5 days. Make sure you let the chicken cool completely to prevent condensation (this makes the outer crust soggy).
If you want to make this meal for meal prepping, you can do so! Place the chicken in a freezer-safe container and keep it there for up to 3 months.
When you want to have it again, place it in the oven at 350°F and cook it for 10-12 minutes. While you can use the microwave, it may result in soggy chicken.
